Applications for CBSO’s Project Remix are Now Open

The CBSO is looking to recruit around 60 instrumentalists aged 11-18 (in school Years 7 – 13) to take part in Project Remix.

We have limited spaces available for Viola, Double Bass, Brass and Percussion students.

Project Remix fuses well-known music with contemporary orchestral arrangements. Each year, the project has a musical theme and in previous years the Orchestra has performed the music of Led Zepplin, UB40, Barry Manilow, and BRIT-Nominated CBSO Youth Orchestra alum Laura Mvula. This year we are celebrating and exploring Birmingham’s rich cultural and musical heritage, and the repertoire will include a range of recent releases written and performed by popular South Asian artists.

Project Remix is open to instrumentalists who are Grade 5 standard or above. There is no audition, but musicians need to apply online. Participants will be mentored through weekly rehearsals by a team of CBSO musicians before culminating in a live performance in the spectacular surroundings of Symphony Hall on Sunday 20th February 2022.

Rehearsals will take place from 18:00 – 20:00 at the CBSO Centre on the following dates:

Tuesday 11th January 2022
Tuesday 18th January 2022
Tuesday 25th January 2022
Tuesday 1st February 2022
Tuesday 7th February 2022
Tuesday 15th February 2022

There will be a further rehearsal at Symphony Hall on Sunday 20th February 2022 from 1:15pm – 1.45pm before the concert at 3.30pm – 4.15pm.

Participation in this project is FREE OF CHARGE, however, places are limited. If you would like to participate, please register your interest by contacting Helen Poulter at hpoulter@cbso.co.uk or on 0121 616 6500.

We look forward to seeing you at Project Remix.
