BCMG Workshops & Events for Young People – Spring 2025

BCMG Learn & Take Part offers a range of free opportunities for young people of all ages and experiences to create their own music at the CBSO Centre, Birmingham. Have a look at what’s on offer.

Music Maze (KS2): Creative, fun and informal composing workshops, led by Director of Learning, Nancy Evans and BCMG musicians. Find out more here: Free Music Workshops for Young People in Birmingham

BCMG Young Composers (KS3): Booking is open for our Spring & Summer 2025 BCMG Young Composers workshops. Across four workshops, young people in KS3 have the opportunity to compose for two BCMG musicians under the guidance of professional composer Kirsty Devaney. We still have places available for our upcoming Spring workshops, to book follow this link.

BCMG Creative Composing Lab (ages 14-18): Creative Composing Lab is an exciting opportunity for young people aged 14 -18 to compose for BCMG musicians guided by the expert knowledge of composer David Horne from the Royal Northern College of Music. In January, compose new music for BCMG’s fantastic long-standing percussionists Julian Warburton and Simon Limbrick and have your music performed and recorded in a short concert. Spaces are still available for our workshop on Sunday 26 January 2025 from 10am-6pm and we welcome any young composers or percussionists who might be interested. Book here via this link.

Learning Resources: Have a go at home with our online resources to explore ideas for writing your own music at home, instrument spotlights and composer Q and As, available online here.
