New Primary Mental Health Project

Quench Arts has funding from the National Lottery Community Fund to offer free music and mental health programmes across this academic year.

We can offer:

  • A 2 hour taster session in school time for up to 30 children from key stage 2, led by 2 experienced music facilitators. This participatory taster will focus on how music can help with emotional regulation and in developing emotional literacy.
  • Your school can then identify 4 children who have either a diagnosed mental health condition, or who you think could benefit from early intervention, to receive 5 x 45 minute one-to-one sessions each which will happen after the taster. These one-to-one sessions will happen after school hours.
  • Each child will complete baseline activities and set personal goals for the sessions. These goals can be informed by yourselves as well, such as increased confidence/ self-esteem etc. Sessions will work towards the musical and wellbeing outcomes agreed and could include a recording or other means of celebrating achievements. Case studies will be written on each child (anonymised) around the impact the programme has had upon them.
  • We will also prepare 1 handout document/worksheet for schools/teachers to follow on from taster content.
